The Herd That Wanders At Night

Moonlit Oasis. The name sounds beautiful, doesn't it? A beautiful area where tall trees hang overhead, but not quite thick enough to stop from moonlight from greeting the animals and plants below. A beautiful pool that connects to a river, a place where the moon can freely shine down in the reflection.

Don't be fooled. The place may sound wonderful, but the fight for survival is at its' peaks. The Deori that make up the herd of Moonlit Oasis stay within the safety of the trees as much as they can during the day, and are fully alert at night. They often take turn with guard shifts, some sleeping while others keep watch for dangers.

What dangers, you may ask? There's wolves, bears, even lynxes that could take down a lone Deori or snatch a calf. There's also an azure dragon that lives in a nearby cave that is very much up and out during the daylight hours.

Those dangers don't stop this herd from trying to survive. With plenty of berry bushes as well as insects galore, they're determined to stay in the forest.
